Planning your remodel

What codes do I need to meet?
- It depends! Where you live, the extent of your remodel and the current state of your home will determine what codes you need to adhere to. Check with your local jurisdiction.
- King County (http://kingcounty.gov/depts/dnrp/solid-waste/programs/green-building/construction-demolition.aspx) and Seattle (http://www.seattle.gov/util/ForBusinesses/Construction/CDWasteManagement/RecyclingRequirements/index.htm) codes require that the following construction and demolition materials not go into a landfill: untreated/unpainted wood, cardboard, metal, new gypsum scrap (new drywall), asphalt paving, brick, and concrete
- King County (http://kingcounty.gov/depts/dnrp/solid-waste/programs/green-building/construction-demolition/designated-facilities.aspx) and Seattle (http://www.seattle.gov/util/ForBusinesses/Construction/CDWasteManagement/RecyclingRequirements/CertifiedFacilities/index.htm) codes also require that mixed, commingled and waste loads of construction and demolition materials be taken to designated/certified facilities.
